Re: Stephen King
Usually books are far better than the film. Having watched the Shining I decided to read the book and found it to be a load of bollocks. Have never bothered with a Stephen King since.

Salems lot. The TVM version with James Mason. The cell scene almost made me soil myself.

Got about a third of the way into the green mile once.

Was alright.

Had already seen the film though

Gavros 5:30 Sat May 19
Re: Stephen King
Green Mile was a funny one. The overall storyline is great but it's far from perfect because he took on the challenge to write in the style of a penny dreadful, so he had to write about four chapters every week for six weeks and it makes the overall book a bit disjointed.

It was the bedroom window tapping scene that got me.

Zeb.

Me too, they did that scene very well in the film version. Also the bit when they staircase had been cut away and at the bottom of the stairs were a load of upturned bread knives. Gripping stuff.

His short story collections are excellent too.

I loved the collection called Skeleton Crew. The story Survivor Type was a stand out.
